ID Artist & Forthvalley Hairdresser of the Year 2009

I have been hairdressing for 21 years now and have enjoyed every minute of it. I did my L'Oreal Colour Specialist Degree nearly 3 years ago. (Only 1 of 16 in Scotland) this has allowed me to advance so much in the field of understanding and applying hair colour.

I have a monthly column in the "Appointments" magazine as the Hair Doctor. Last year I won 1 of the 2 coveted places in the L'Oreal ID artist programme, which has taken me all over the UK, Ireland and Europe. The L'Oreal ID artist programme allows me to host seminars and stage work for other professional hairdressers. The training I receive with this programme involves working sometimes 1 to 1 with the hairdressing industry greats like Trevor Sorbie, Simon Shaw, Rudi Lewis and Richard Ward to name but a few.

At the beginning of June I was invited to work at London Fashion Week, doing hair for the catwalk shows which resulted in my models photos being printed in London.

Edwina

Speciality: Long Hair

Hi I'm Edwina and I have been in the industry for over 18 years. I have recently returned from maternity leave and look forward to working with new and existing clients. I have worked alongside Samantha for most of these years as she was responsible for putting me through my NVQ level 2 + 3 in hairdressing.

I am experienced and enjoy all aspects of hairdressing, but thrive on designing long hair styles. For that reason I am the salon's long hair specialist. I get my inspiration from Patrick Cameron, the industry icon for long hair and have attended many of his courses. This is really useful when it comes to Weddings, Proms, Nights out, gala Days etc.

I attend Salon International every year to find out what is currently happening in the hairdressing industry so I can bring information back and share it with my clients.

I do photography part time as a hobby and hope to combine it with my hairdressing skills and experience therefore helping the salon produce collections for the future.

Jaime

Speciality: Products

Hi my name is Jaime. I have been working in the salon for the past 6 months as Samantha's personal assistant. I have also been working through my NVQ level 2 in hairdressing and will hopefully have this completed later this year. My job role includes assisting Samantha in applying colours, helping with consultations, shampooing and conditioning and looking after the needs of Samantha's clients. I am responsible for the running of the salon's Ebay shop where you can buy all of the salon's products even when the salon is closed.

Shona

Speciality: Extensions

Hi my name is Shona. I started training as an apprentice hairdresser with Samantha in January 2006 and have recently qualified as a salon stylist. This was a hard but enjoyable experience. I feel I have achieved so much within myself learning to gain self confidence and maturity. I have recently returned from maternity leave and I'm now looking forward to working with my clients.

Since working in the salon I have been with the team down to Salon International in London, entered various competitions, hairdressing seminars, participated in photo shoots, Toni & Guy cutting courses, Hair Extension courses.

I strive to attain the highest level of knowledge within my niche (extensions) and I'm constantly learning new styles and techniques in cutting and colouring from Samantha.

• Racoon Hair Extension courses - That will allow me to specialise in the application, removal, styling and the training of staff within the salon

Gary

Speciality: Reception, Customer Care & Salon Administration

Hi I'm Gary & I am responsible for the running of the salon reception & the Salon general administration. I am a fully qualified practice manager and qualified medic therefore listening to the clients' needs and responding to those requirements has made me ideally suited for my role. I thrive on marketing and customer care. I train all the staff on the computerised appointment book and reception skills. Since starting with the salon I have been invited to attend Hairdressing seminars for salon owners as an instructor in Manchester & London.

Hi, my names Bryan. I've just recently started working in Samantha Blues Hairdressing. I am currently working through my NVQ and will hopefully be fully qualified in the next 12 months. I would love to become a gent's specialist and maybe open my own salon in England or abroad. Everyone in the salon has welcomed me with open arms and I'm glad I can work and learn off these amazing people.

Hi, my name is Dionne. I have recently started working for Samantha Blues Hairdressing as an assistant. Since I have been working here I have been doing 1 to 2 days a week training one on one with Samantha. My job role includes working with the stylists helping them run their column, shampooing and conditioning, keeping the salon looking good and helping clients with any needs that they have. In the future I aspire to be like Samantha as she is a L'Oreal Colour Specialist and colour is what I'm most interested in.

I am enjoying keeping upto date with the latest trends & fashions and combining them with the hair industry.
